well if you need fine arts i suggest:
- piano I (music is always good and it will be easy if you can read notes and such, however it might also get boring since you have to practice everyday)
- ceramics (its not exactly helpful but i guess it gives you a chance to be creative instead of being confined to thinking academically.. be sure you follow the rules though..it helps with relations b/w teacher & student and it also helps you get better grades)
- art I (i have no experience in this class because i personally never took it but i just heard it was easy. its next door to ceramics and well, if you like drawing why not give it a try?)

if you don't need a fine arts:
- food and nutrition I [all the way!] (basically you learn about well..food and nutrition. your "labs" are basically cooking experiences where you get to cook off of a recipe. you can also move onto food and nutrition II your second semester if you feel like it. i don't think theres another class that is as easy. you're not graded by how well you cook (though it helps to follow instructions and the recipe because you'll have to eat what you cook) but you'll also learn some helpful food facts and besides, you'll need to know how to cook when you hit college. its not AS helpful as chinese cooking where its all based on taste since in this class is mainly all measurements and such but hey, if you want chinese cooking perhaps you can ask your mom to teach you?)
- . . . there really isn't anything else unless you want fashion design and fashion sewing. i don't really know of that many elective classes though so i suggest you also ask other seniors at cerritos. (i hate the chs rule that you have to take six periods)

so yep. those are my 10 cents. hope it helped. :]
see you around at school jeffery!

haha, I wish I had more to say about CHS electives; I don't know too much about them! Laughing

I just throw in an idea anyway! Smile One elective I really like is the Peer Assistance and Leadership (or Peer Counseling) class! I didn't take it before and I won't have time next year in my schedule to take it, I think. BUT I do know a lot about it because I worked on a spread for Peer Counseling, and I interviewed the people in the class (ah, the benefits of yearbook). Peer Counselors do counseling at school, but they also work with kids at neighboring elementary schools or middle schools. During 5th period, usually Tues. or Thursdays they go on "outreaches"; many walk over to Carver elementary or drive to another school to watch their assigned elementary/middle school "buddy". My friend (who is in peer counseling) works with a kindergartner: she sits with him and class and kinda mentors him, I guess, and helps him with social skills and classroom behavior. On M, W, and Fs, off days, they have class discussions, listen to Mrs. Roehl discuss different topics dealing with teens, or watch documentaries on teenage behavior. It's a really cool class. After talking to a lot of the peer counselors, it seems like they are all really close and open with each other. They also gain a lot of insight on people and learn to take people for more than their first impressions.

If it isn't too late to sign up, I totally encourage you to keep this class in thought at least! Very Happy

Ooh, and Film Studies, I heard was a pretty good class! I'm not sure how many sophomores take this class, but I know a lot my junior friends take it. If you have Mr. Marzo, it'll be easier. But you get to watch a lot of movies, and you learn a lot about movie production and stuff! There is homework (I think only a little though), but nonetheless, I heard it was a fun class! AND it's UC approved and considered as a fine art!

But honestly, I think all the elective classes at CHS are pretty cool! Very Happy

oh, heads up about film studies. i don't discourage it and it is an interesting class and who doesn't want to just watch movies for one period everyday?
i heard if you get marzo its just a little bit of work but if you get varieur then you'll get a lot of work.

but i didn't take the class (changed my mind at the last second) so yeah. but hey if you're interested go ahead and try it out. :]

i also forgot there are lots of media-type electives like multimedia and video editing i believe. i don't know much about them though but if you need help finding out about those classes i suggest talking to 1) your counselor or 2) the teacher who teaches those classes. it might help to find out and see if you like the teacher so you can see if you'll be able to stand that teacher for a year and of course counselors want you to see them ALL the time since they'll need to know you to write your letters of recommendation your senior year for colleges.
but i think you should head for your interests. regardless of how hard or easy the class is, if you like the subject and you're interested in learning about it then it'll be so much easier (and fun). :]

I agree! Don't take a class just for an easy A Exclamation

Film? That's what I chose! But it might change along the way. Even though I turned in my registration card and it seems like senior classes are settled, I'm still debating with myself over what elective I want to take.
